One year on, the Top Gear series 18 micro site is recognised in an award from AGDA Australia! I’m fortunate enough to have my name immortalised in ink on the ‘Australian Design Biennale 2012 Professional Award’ presented to R&B Creative. Rather Chuffed.
You can view more on the project over here.
Recently I had the pleasure of working with the R&B Creative as part of the design team on the new Saint Stephen’s College website, which won the national Educate Plus Award for Best Education Website.
The guys in the development team brought to life some really nice interactions that make the site really stand out from the crowed. R&B also created some rather nice advertising and print material that brings unity between offline on online media.
Head on over to the Saint Stephen’s College portfolio page at R&B Creative for all the details.
With the rise of the iPad/iPhone and the death of flash on all other mobile devices, advertisers are looking to a new replacement for flash…namely HTML5 and CSS3. But some are looking to the past as well as the future and the humble animated gif has some legs in it yet. In this digital age it’s nice to see something birthed in 1989 can still keep up with the new kids.
In at R&B recently we have been creating online ad material for the BBC iPlayer platform, and animated gifs have been working a treat. You can see in the sample above I created, that with a little imagination and know-how you can still create something interesting and engaging. The one big challenge that wont go away however, is the balance between smooth animations and file size. This is where the new kids (HTML5 & CSS3) will shine.
Featured in .net magazine issue #230 is the top gear website in a ‘how we built it’ type walk through with a couple of the R&B Creative team.
I was super excited when I found out that we were featured in the magazine that headed straight off to the news agents get myself a copy! It is always a pleasure to see something you have contributed to immortalised in print. If you seen the retouching Top Gear portfolio post, head over there now for a gander.
R&B Creative has been nominated as finalist in two categories at the upcoming 2012 AIMIA Awards.
I was privileged to have a hand in designing the multi-region BBC Hubs website, which is a finalist in the Best News, Reference or Media category. It is certainly a treat to see my name listed there along with the other super talented people at R&B. I also got the amazing opportunity to design the mobile version to the BBC Hubs website, and I am looking forward to releasing a new gallery entry for the mobile site in the very near future.
The new ‘series 18’ of the massively popular Top Gear is about to start hitting TV screens around the globe and the series micro-site is just days away from launch.
I have been spending a good portion time with the super talented team at R&B Creative, and over the course of time I was privileged enough to be elected to do all the high-end Photoshop retouching and compositing.
Mark Bannister and Adam Finden created a fantastic front end design which made the retouch work even more of a joy to develop.
This clean and professional indesign template is perfectly suited for those in need of a creative agency style brochure. It’s well-considered layout lends itself well to creative pitches or portfolio use.
Everything is fully editable and style sheeted, just alter the swatches to suit your own branding colours. Change the fonts throughout is as easy as updating a couple of paragraph styles and the included Indesign library files make adding new content to new blank spreads as simple as ‘Click & Drag’.
The 200 x 200mm trim size creates a professional and individual look to the finished brochure. But, for a more traditional finished size I have reworked and released an 8.5 x 11 agency brochure available exclusively at changetheimage.com. The 8.5 x 11 inch template has had the layouts, paragraph styles, object styles, page girds, margins and columns overhauled to make the most of the extra space offered by the new page shape. Check it out here.
